About Me

Since I was a young man I’ve always stepped forward in support roles to help others in times of need. Whether it was bringing a local family Christmas, teaching classes for the Red Cross in the military, or providing blankets and coats to those outdoors, being in service of others has been my calling. In 2000 I made the choice to support youth by providing foster care in my home. Four years later I knew the direction I wanted my life to move in.  I decided to start on a professional career path in social work.

I earned my bachelors at Portland State University and continued my graduate work at George Fox University earning a Masters in Social Work. From there I moved into outpatient work as a mental health professional contracting for child welfare working with vulnerable children, families, and veterans. Working with diverse populations and age demographics is what ultimately led me to move into private practice.

My Clinical Experience

How I Approach Therapy

I use an integrative style that draws from a holistic approach that is patient centered.

Here is a brief overview:

  • Your emotional, mental, physical and spiritual needs are all equally important.

  • You are the one person that knows you best. I like to start there.

  • Life can be messy. Messy is not failure.

  • There is always room for discovery.

  • Crisis intervention and mental health therapy for vulnerable populations.

  • Mental health therapy for young adults, youth and Veterans.

  • Extensive training as a trauma therapist, versed in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and a mindfulness approach to the work.

  • Vast amount of knowledge in financial crisis management/recovery and its effects on mental health.

  • Highly experienced in parent counseling.

  • Working with veterans and the VA.

The Values I Stand For

  • Patients cannot “fail” at therapy. Therapists and treatments can fail patients.

  • The patient/therapist relationship needs to be safe and authentic. It is the therapist’s responsibility to create said safe environment.

  • We all want to be living as the best version of ourselves. I want to help my patients be the versions of themselves they want.
